 Computational Fluid Dynamics Minimize

Download Brochure

With the exponential improvements in computing power being realized today, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software has become a powerful tool in specialized fluid modeling. This was once only an academic tool that is now being offered for commercial purposes and made available on desktop computing platforms.  Once calibrated with the wind tunnel, CFD offers the ability to quickly visualize the wind flow patterns and provide wind velocities and direction at any point on a 3D model.  This capability enhances GmE’s ability to further examine wind flow characteristics in greater detail and at full scale.

CFD software provides capability to further interrogate the air stream and obtain information on additional parameters of interest such as air temperature, pressure, humidity, turbulence and contaminant levels.  This capability in concert with the expertise and engineering “know-how “ of the GmE team facilitates the solution of complex air flow problems around new buildings and interior spaces.

Model of research facility tested in a wind tunnel. Emissions are modelled to represent actual momentum and buoyancy of the full-scale stacksCFD can be used to investigate fluid models related to;

  • Pedestrian wind environments
  • Pollutant re-ingestion
  • Natural ventilation
  • Smoke distribution
  • Contaminant propagation within a building
  • Cooling tower spray dispersion
  • Contaminant infiltration

    Leveraging technology in combination with our experience and knowledge provides our clients with the best possible solution to wind and flow modeling requirements.
